Engaging prospects for the first time is one of the most difficult things we do in sales.
I learned from two plus decades of studying marketing that one key to getting the prospect engaged was to address the conversation in their head.
In other words, answer the questions in the prospect’s mind.
A simplistic example of this would be if you had your house burglarized and then got a call from an alarm company – the conversation in your head would be “I have to get protected.” The alarm salesperson answers or addresses that question and you’d almost certainly be delighted to talk to them.
I found a solution to the engagement challenge. It is a process from marketing that addresses the four key questions every prospect wants answered before they engage.
